Privacy Policy

Effective August 11, 2026

Zapple is operated by Woodberry Holdings, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Zapple," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

1. Information we collect

Account information

Your name, username, and email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and name from that provider. You may optionally add a profile photo, bio, location, and interests.

Nutrition and health information

Meals you log and their ingredients and nutrition values, water intake, your nutrition goals and targets, and — if you choose to provide them — your date of birth, body weight, height, and biological sex.

Photos

Images you capture or select for meal logging, and your profile picture.

Content you create

Posts, comments, likes, saved posts, and direct messages.

Device and usage information

A device token used to deliver push notifications, your time zone, and app events recorded during onboarding so we can see where new users get stuck.

Moderation records

Reports you file or that are filed about your content, and users you block.

2. Apple Health

Zapple works with Apple Health in two directions. Both are optional and both can be turned off at any time in the Health app.

We do not use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with data brokers or use it for any form of data mining. Apple Health data is never sent to our AI provider.

3. AI analysis of meal photos

When you tap AI Analyze, the photo you selected is sent to our servers and then to OpenAI, L.L.C., which identifies the foods it can see and estimates their quantities.

OpenAI does not calculate your nutrition numbers. Once the foods are identified, Zapple matches them against its own curated nutrition database to produce the calorie and macronutrient values you see, and Zapple calculates the meal quality grade. OpenAI takes no part in either step.

OpenAI acts as our service provider under a data processing agreement. That means it processes your photo only on our instructions, does not use it to train its models, and retains it for a limited period for abuse monitoring before deleting it. This is the OpenAI API, not the ChatGPT product — your photos do not appear in ChatGPT.

Only the photo you chose to analyze is sent. Your Apple Health data, your profile, your messages, and your other posts are not.

You can use Zapple without this feature — meals can be logged manually or by scanning a barcode.

AI estimates are approximations and can be wrong. Do not rely on them for medical purposes. See our health disclaimer.

4. How we use your information

5. Service providers

We share information only with providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes below:

We may also disclose information where required by law, or where necessary to protect the safety of our users.

6. What other people can see

Your username, name, profile photo, bio, and posts are visible to others according to your account's privacy setting. New accounts are public by default; you can switch to private in Settings, which limits your posts to followers you approve. Direct messages are visible only to the people in the conversation.

Blocking a user hides your content from them and theirs from you, in both directions.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app, which removes your profile, posts, photos, and messages.

We may retain limited moderation records after deletion where necessary to enforce our Terms, protect other users, or comply with law.

8. Your choices and how to withdraw consent

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the appropriate authorities if we become aware of a breach affecting your information as required by law.

10. Age requirement

Zapple is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us information, email [email protected].

11. Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut residents

If you live in Washington State, our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy describes your rights under the My Health My Data Act and applies to you in addition to this policy.

12. Where we operate

Zapple is offered in the United States and your information is processed in the United States.

13. Changes

If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the effective date above and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
